Pilgrim: Nigeria's President Jonathan continues tour of Jerusalem's Holy sites

[JERUSALEM]- Nigeria's President Jonathan has spent the second day of his trip to Israel with a tour of Holy Sites within the walls of Old Jerusalem.
He also joined other pilgrims in taking a walk down the way of the Cross
It is a rare sight for pilgrims to encounter a sitting President leading a group of people in observing a spiritual visit to Holy sites in Jerusalem
The first stop for President Jonathan on his second day was the wailing Wall in the Old city of Jerusalem
The significance of this wall in major religions is that it constitutes the closest place to the holiest of Holies where all supplications are supposedly heard by God and answered
The President was received by the Rabbi of the Wall who led the pilgrims in prayers and afterwards led them through the tunnels underneath the wall to the Way of the Cross
This way retraces the steps of Jesus Christ with specific stations marking His travails from the seat of Pontius Pilate to the Calvary
The Journey ends at the Church of the Sepulchre with President Jonathan offering prayers at every station along the way
It is yet another experience which Nigerian government officials say awakens their sense of sacrifice to make their country better
The President is expected to round off his pilgrimage on saturday after which the business end of the Israeli visit commences
