Members of the Nigeria's Labour Party have agreed to work together despite the return of the Ondo State Governor Olusegun Mimiko to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
The members also stressed the need to brace up ahead of the 2015 general elections.
TVC news correspondent, Ayodeji Moradeyo who captured the mood of members at the party's 4th national conference held in Akure, the Ondo state capital, Southwest Nigeria reports that one would have thought that the convention would not attract large crowd because of the exit of governor olusegun mimiko from the party, but the turnout was impressive.
The arrival of the national chairman of the party, Dan Nwanyanwu who recently stepped down after being in charge for ten years ignited
excitement the venue of the event
The songs he rendered triggered the spirit of the delegates who came from different states.
There after they settled down for the business of the day. But not after Nwanyanwu gave his valedictory speech. At this point, he betrayed to emotion most especially when he spoke about mimiko's departure.
It was after this the delegates went on a short break to later return to elect new executive members.
Abdulkadir salam, the immediate past secretary of the party emerged as the party's new national chairman while Kayode Ajulo emerged as the party's new national secretary.
Some members of the party however say the exit of governor mimiko will not affect the party's fortune.
